Assessment

Regular, formal assessment is an important part of this course. It includes:

  • weekly tests throughout the course
  • termly progress test
  • regular essays and written presentations throughout the course
  • oral presentations
  • special project work
  • presentation of the special project portfolio
  • oral exam
  • written exam

Your course work will be collated in your Learning Development File, which you can keep after your course.

Course structure and content

There are two course lengths:

34 or 24 weeks

Lesson plan:

20 lessons + 8 Special Interest Groups

During the summer you might have lessons in the mornings, afternoons or a combination of both.

Special Interest Groups

These are lessons you combine with an Intensive Course or a Diploma of English. As for the General English lessons, these lessons are 45 minutes-long. Their purpose is to integrate the General English lessons with additional learning opportunities.

The number of lessons will depend on the course you choose:

  • Intensive Course: 8 Special Interest Groups lessons per week
  • Super Intensive Course: 16 Special Interest Group lessons per week
  • Diploma of English: 8 Special Interest Group lessons per week

Formal qualifications

The Diploma of English is a great way to achieve formal language qualifications.

On the Intensive lesson plan, you can choose to prepare for the IELTS , TOEFL or the Cambridge exams  as one of your Special Interest Groups.
