The course

The Cambridge English: First (FCE) exam is one of the best known and most respected formal qualifications in English. Cambridge English exams are recognised by commercial and academic institutions worldwide.

This course is specifically designed to prepare you thoroughly for the Cambridge English: First (FCE) exam. You can follow the course in a Compact version (20 lessons per week) or and Intensive version (28 lessons per week).

About the exam

Cambridge English: First (FCE) exams help students gain entrance to university or college, improve job prospects or measure progress in English. 

The Cambridge English: First (FCE) is ideal for students who can:

  • understand texts from a wide variety of sources
  • use English to make notes while someone is speaking in English
  • talk to people about a wide variety of topics
  • understand people talking in English on radio or television programmes

Please note Cambridge English: First (FCE) exam fees are not included in the course price.

Course structure and content

If you choose the Compact version of the Cambridge English: First (FCE) course you will study 20 lessons per week (15 hours). This lesson plan is available in all colleges aside from Oxford.

The Intensive version has 28 lessons per week (21 hours). This is available in all locations.

The Cambridge English: First (FCE) course is taught by specialist and experienced teachers. The course syllabus has been specially designed to maximise your exam success and covers all papers of the exam.

You will be given regular homework and will be expected to complete at least five hours of self-study assignments each week.

There are also two sets of mock exams before the exam date.

Compact start dates and locations 2015

There are no more start dates for 2014.

In 2015 the Compact lesson plan is available in Boston, Los Angeles, Bournemouth and London with the following start dates:

5th January - 10 weeks in Bournemouth and London

16th March - 12 weeks in Boston, Los Angeles, Bournemouth and London

7th September - 12 weeks in Bournemouth and London

8th September - 12 weeks in Boston and Los Angeles

Intensive start dates and locations in 2015

There are no more start dates in 2014.

In 2015 the Intensive lesson plan is available across all locations with the following start dates:

5th January in Bournemouth and London - 10 weeks

16th March in all colleges - 12 weeks

29th June in Bournemouth - 8 weeks

7th September in Bournemouth and London - 12 weeks 

8th September in Boston and Los Angeles - 12 weeks
